Today I'm teaming up with Eventbrite to share my favorite local spot for events. If you don't know Eventbrite, they're a global marketplace for events that are going on in your area, and they even allow you to set up and sell tickets to your events. Since we're currently spending a few weeks down here in Joshua Tree working on getting our house ready to rent on airbnb, it seemed only appropriate to share my newest obsession down here in the desert!
I've heard Pappy & Harriet's dubbed as 'the pappiest place on earth'. I completely understand why. It's in Pioneertown, CA - an old western looking town built in the 1940's to be used as a movie set. In the middle of what appears to be an old abandoned town lies Pappy & Harriet's, which from what I've seen so far is quite the opposite of abandoned.
My first time in was for dinner, and unexpectedly turned into an outdoor show of one of my favorite bands - Caribou. I've been hooked ever since. They have a winning combination of great food, a bar, pool tables, live music while you dine, aaaand incredible artists that perform at their outdoor stage. Just this past weekend, Neutral Milk Hotel had a sold-out show. Maybe not something I would have expected in the middle of the desert, but that's what makes it so great!
If you ever get a chance to visit the Joshua Tree area, make sure Pappy & Harriet's is a stop along the way. I promise you won't regret it! In the meantime, I'll be browsing Eventbrite discovering more awesome places in Joshua Tree. (I swear, sometimes it feels like there's more going on in the desert than there is in the city!)
