I recently got a mini hair makeover at Sassoon Salon here in San Francisco. Never before have I gone to a salon where my haircut was treated as an art piece. At Sassoon, hair is their medium. The colorist I went to (Nathan) had a beautiful way of putting things - he is the painter, and those with scissors are the sculptors.
I was excited to see what direction they would take my hair in. The only direction I gave was for a blunt long bob with a slightly blonder look. They painted and sculpted away, then thoughtfully twisted my hair dry (no curling iron required). My new look already has me feeling a little tanner and ready for Summer.
I was drawn to Sassoon via their incredibly creative collections. The latest one draws inspiration from artists like Salvador Dali and photographers Man Ray and Horst P. Horst. The creative director Elizabeth (who cut my hair), said that in places like San Francisco, collections like this really draw people in. It's not necessarily that they themselves want something so drastic, but they do want a stylist who is capable of creating art like that.
