As Sara mentioned earlier this week, I'm going to be rounding up my favorite links here every Friday. I send Sara so many links throughout the week, so at the very least this will be a way to make her read them. :) - Rich
DesignStudio's Airbnb logo process—I love seeing the process of various projects. They tell so much more of the story than the final result. In art school, we often felt that the process became the piece itself.
In one second on the internet there are...—This is a pretty eye-opening info graphic. I had no idea how many facebook likes, emails, google searches etc were happening every second. Also, the fact that none of this was happening 10, 20, 30 years ago makes me realize how much more innovation is in our future.
Responsive logos—Responsive websites are becoming more and more common, but I hadn't really thought about logos being responsive as well. It's an interesting thing to keep in mind as more brands are being recognized by app icons and simpler forms.
A dad's response to the Magic! Rude song—We've been spending a lot of time in the car this year and the Magic! Rude song has been playing non-stop. This YouTube video is coming from the simultaneously sweet and hilarious perspective of the dad (and the guy is super talented!).
goTenna—Our design studio Hexagon had the privilege of doing some last minute front-end work for sibling co-founders Daniela and Jorge Perdomo last week. It's an amazing product that allows people to communicate without cell towers (for example text at a festival or hiking in the middle of nowhere)
Hello Sense—A beautiful sleep tracker that launched a kickstarter campaign this week. I could see myself using this and by the looks of it, other people see themselves using it too. It has currently raised $720k of its original $100k goal.
Rebranding Foursquare—I've been using Foursquare for years and since moving to New York, it's been an amazing tool for exploring the city and meeting up with friends. I'm excited to see what's next for them.
Moscow mule mugs—For the summer in New York, Sara and I wanted to have a "go to" cocktail for hanging out on our roof. We decided Moscow Mules are it. Now we just need the copper mugs to go with them!
Russia lost control of a lizard sex satellite—This can't end well...
Wikia launches Maps—One of the projects I've been working on with Wikia launched this week! It allows fans to create their own pins on maps for whatever topic they want. Working with Wikia on this has been an awesome experience.
Jibo—"The world's first family robot". Cool concept, but I really just want R2-D2.
