I think life becomes richer and a little more adventurous when we take the time to notice patterns and make connections about what we've seen. It's worth taking a few minutes every day to really think about not only what you see around you, but about what you are naturally drawn to. I've been thinking about style in this way lately - for example, analyzing what it is that I like about a shirt when I see it. What does that shirt then have in common with that dinnerware set I've been dreaming about?
I've realized a pattern in my own style. The basis is always simple, classic, geometric. We're talking circles, squares, triangles... simple structural tops and sculptural shoes. On top of that simplicity is color, pattern, and texture. This outfit is a true testament to that. The simple shapes of the pieces themselves make them so easy to wear, but the tassels on the shorts, the fringe on the top, and the splashes of color on the watch make them all so much fun to wear.
Have you thought about what elements draw you in to particular items of clothing or any type of design really? Next time you see something you love, take a second to note some characteristics about it... it's so fun to see the patterns! Deep down you know what you love but we don't always take the time to let it surface.
