Marfa is the coolest little town in Texas. We’d been wanting to visit for so long, and it was definitely worth the wait. We did make two mistakes though. Number one was staying in a tent when the temps reached 10 degrees at night. We hadn’t checked the weather and apparently Marfa is not always warm! We stayed at El Cosmico, and loved it besides for the temperature!

The second mistake was that we were there on a Monday/ Tuesday. Little did we know, Marfa is pretty much shut down on those days. Luckily, we had dinner at a delicious spot: Cochineal. We sat at the bar and started talking to a couple with a gallery. They were nice enough to give us a tour of their own studio since they knew we hadn’t been able to see much else!

They bought an old movie theatre and turned the projection room into their apartment, leaving the rest of the space as their studio. Walking through the space I was so inspired. It’s a goal of mine to have a space like this to work out of someday.

Traveling around through smaller towns tempts me to leave the high rents and small spaces that cities offer. I mean, imagine having a space like this to work out of! Pretty much a dream come true.

We also found out that Marfa has their own community site which has all of their events etc. It’s an awesome resource if you’re planning on visiting!
