I've been meaning to write about this for a while now. A few months back, Rich and I decided to 'take the leap'. We left our secure full-time jobs as product designers, and started our own design studio called Hexagon where we're designing apps and websites for companies we love.
There are lots of scary thoughts that come with a decision like this... For example: Will we make enough money? What the hell are we thinking? Are we going to hate each other if we're in our living room together all day? Do we need a lawyer? How do we do thisss?
But there are also a lot of beautiful realizations. We can work from anywhere. We're free. We can work on projects that get us excited. We will have time to think about what we want and what makes us happy. We can travel more.
So far, I feel like I've accomplished more in these couple of months than I normally would in a year. I may not be sleeping quite as well as I used to, but putting yourself in a tight situation produces results. What needs to happen will. Rich and I also firmly believe that if you say you're gonna do something, you do it. So here we are. We're doin' it.
